I love this song by Over The Rhine..

Remind Us

I don't know where this is going
I'm taking a ride on a wing and a prayer
Follow me there
We'll both be surprised
If we forget anything
Hopefully nobody will remind us

Can't bear the news in the evening
We're going to bed and we're going to war
All of this for
Anyone's guess
If we forget anything
Heaven forbid someone would remind us

Sinners and saints, priests and kings
Are we just using God for our own gain
What's in a name
Open your eyes
If we forget everything
There will be no one left to remind us

I don't know where this is going
I'm taking a ride on a wing and a prayer
Follow me there
We'll both be surprised

words and music: Bergquist
recording:

I just love Over the rhine. I have been a fan for many years. Their songs have helped me through some tough times in the past. They really know how to put words together to create something beautiful huh?

I like the lyrics, but can't access the recordings because I must crawl under my computer desk and plug back in the cord. Oh well.... :(

Katie, I talked with Chuck...

Amy, I first heard the Ohio album when I was going through treatment for my anxiety (the first few posts of my blog were written at that time), and the lyrics became very meaningful to me.  I don't have any of their other albums, but I've heard some of Drunkard's Prayer...their music is just timeless.

Sally,  I'm sorry that you can't hear it!  I can't listen online either, because my computer is just too slow.  :(     I visited his website - thanks for the link!   Is he a good friend of yours?

He is a godly man. Our kids went to school together. We went to church together till we all left that church. I knew his wife but not him so much because he would drive over to a "home" for indigent and sick people (some psychiatric, some just old and indigent). He would pick them up, bring them to church and hold them. I wish I had a camera for the times I sat in back of him. Spread like the wings of an albatross, his arms held the back and shoulders of two people on either side of him. They were worshipping their Lord together. THAT made it all worth it. He would then take them to lunch, shopping, etc. So, I rarely interacted with him - he was really busy focusing on those children of God.

I haven't seen him in a few years, but last fall I thought of him as a contact for you. He comes into my store three times a week. So, we talk each time. I spoke of you to him the other day. Perhaps when you are here you can meet him.

It IS a faerie, Katie Rose! A story... earlier in the evening I must have missed a cell phone call. Darkness had eclipsed the residual of evening sunset - as if God had provided just the lighting I needed to enter my office - outside the windows:fireflies dancing high; inside in the pocket of my fabric purse, a pulsating glow (my cell phone). I giggled and said,"Tink, what are you doing in my purse?!" My dog and cat are use to visitors and didn't bat an eye.

Anyway, I searched the internet for an animated GIF of tinkerbelle in a pocket. The exercise was entertaining, but as I continued watching the fireflies dance outside, I landed upon the blue faerie. And I thought...YES, that's me rising to the dance!

Morning, Katie girl, the coffee's kickin in!

The album I was that I listened to a lot was "Til we have faces” I love the song "like a radio". In the past few years they have started touring in LA. I have not been able to get to their shows though, but I used to go to them a lot when I lived in Michigan. Have you ever seen them live? Karin is mesmerizing to watch on stage. Their shows are beautiful

I'm so glad you told me that, Sally!  Kindred spirits :)

Amy, I haven't seen them live yet, but I would LOVE to.   It has been a long time since I've been to a good concert - now I've got to check their website for the next Michigan dates..
